An Alaska First: Major Works by Georgia O鈥橩eeffe, Mark Rothko, and Nancy Graves Head to the 果冻传煤 Museum

ANCHORAGE, AK 鈥 Against a backdrop that celebrates life in Alaska and the Arctic, the 果冻传煤 Museum will host artworks by notable modern American artists through a partnership with the for the National Gallery鈥檚 鈥淎cross the Nation鈥 program, which brings key works of art to regional museums across the United States in 2025 and 2026.听听

The 果冻传煤 Museum was selected as one of only 10 partner institutions nationwide. 鈥淎cross the Nation鈥 brings landmark paintings into direct dialogue with the Museum鈥檚 collections and Alaska鈥檚 unique cultural landscape.听
These works from the National Gallery of Art collection will join other major artworks on loan from art institutions around the country for the exhibition Cold War to the Cosmos, which examines the Cold War鈥檚 broader impact on American society during the Atomic Age, reflected through politics, art, and culture. Those include a work by Franz Kline from the鈥疜alamazoo鈥疘nstitute of Arts; work by Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning from the Smithsonian American Art Museum; a painting by Adolph鈥疓ottlieb from the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art; a photograph and sculpture by Trevor Paglen from the Nevada Museum of Art; and paintings and sculpture by Grace Hartigan, Theodore Roszak, and Conrad Marca-Relli from the Art Bridges Foundation.鈥疶hese join works by other contemporary artists and work from the Museum鈥檚 own collections.鈥
